About Richard Blunt

Richard was born in Ashby in 1962 the eldest of 5 children. He went to school in Ashby prior to studying Economics and History at University College, London. He is married with 4 children.

After graduation, Richard worked for 5 years in Venture Capital, putting money into start-up companies in the U.K. and America. He returned to the Midlands in 1989 and launched a business restoring buildings in Melbourne and Ashby which gradually started to focus increasingly on Listed Buildings. Richard has won "Best Restoration of a Georgian Building in the U.K." on three occasions and was recently quoted as "Britain's trustiest restorer of listed buildings".

Richard is a District Councillor in North West Leicestershire District Council and is presently Leader of the Council. He has been the County Councillor for Kirby Muxloe and Leicester Forest East and has had cabinet responsibility for Libraries, Arts and Planning.

Richard has worked on over 20 projects involving listed buildings. He has won the prestigious Georgian Group "Best Restoration of a Georgian Building in the U.K." award on three occasions. Richard has also been quoted as being one of "Britain's trustiest restorers of listed buildings" by the Georgian Group who advise the government on Georgian listed buildings.

Many of the buildings he has restored are now available for rent, ranging from shops and offices to apartments and houses.

Richard is a District Councillor in North West Leicestershire District Council and is presently Leader of the Council.
